Native American Indians believed chalcedony was a sacred stone and used it in the spiritual ceremonies of the tribe. During the ancient periods, this stone was used to make utensils, tools, and even weapons because of its wonderful durability and easy availability. But these days, it is widely consumed as an ornamental stone and gemstone. The term Chalcedony comes from the prehistoric Byzantine port town of Chalcedon that is currently known as Kadikoy in Turkey.

Today Chalcedony deposits can be found in Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, India, Namibia, Russia, and in the USA.

This stone is said to bring your feelings, thoughts, body, and mind in coherence with your spirit. Since it activates the Throat Chakra, it is believed to help heal issues around the tonsils, neck, vocal cords and allergic reactions. As a potent healer, Chalcedony is believed to alleviate the effects of senility and dementia. With the help of this stone, both the mind and heart will be placed to balance. The healing properties of Chalcedony are associated with building the immune system, soothing any ear, throat, and sinus issues.
